Key Features
Discover the artisan craftsmanship and engineering that make this wine library a one-of-a-kind masterpiece.

Climate-Controlled Wine Storage
Floor-to-ceiling wine wall holding 1,200 bottles with individual temperature zones and UV-filtered glass panels

Integrated Library System
Custom bookshelves with adjustable shelving, integrated reading lights, and rolling ladder access

Hand-Carved Crown Moldings
Acanthus leaf and grape cluster motifs hand-carved by master craftsmen, unifying wine and literary themes

Reclaimed Oak Construction
Nineteenth-century Connecticut barn oak with rich patina, traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery throughout
Challenges & Solutions
Blending precise climate control with architectural beauty presented unique engineering and design challenges.
Climate Control Integration
The wine storage required precise temperature and humidity control (55°F, 70% humidity) while the adjacent library space needed comfortable ambient conditions for reading.
Our Solution
Engineered a dual-zone climate system with invisible barriers between wine and library zones, using insulated millwork panels and discrete air handling integrated into the cabinetry.
Reclaimed Material Sourcing
The client desired reclaimed oak with character and provenance, but needed enough matching material for 600 square feet of continuous millwork.
Our Solution
Sourced reclaimed white oak from a single 19th-century Connecticut tobacco barn, providing 2,400 board feet of character-rich material with consistent patina and grain.
Seamless Design Transition
The wine storage and library functions needed to coexist as one unified, architecturally coherent room rather than two separate spaces.
Our Solution
Designed continuous molding profiles and matching joinery details that flow uninterrupted between wine and book storage, creating visual unity while maintaining functional separation.
Our Process
From reclaimed timber sourcing to climate system commissioning, every phase was executed with precision.
Design & Material Sourcing
Collaborated with the client and their interior designer to develop the concept, then sourced reclaimed oak from a single provenance.
